Morning Worship | Luke 8:1-21 | Take Care How You Hear
April 21 @ 11:00 am
According to Isaiah, God’s word will not return to him empty. But it doesn’t always seem like that, as the first part of Luke 8 demonstrates, both in the narrative it provides and through Jesus’ teaching in the parable of the sower. That God’s word will not return empty doesn’t mean that hearers should be passive. Jesus’ instruction to his disciples to ‘take care how you hear’ calls us to diligent attention so that we will know the ‘secrets’ of the kingdom (4-15), lack nothing, yet receive more (16-18), and belong to his family (19-21).
